Partnerships & systemic change

From frontline experience to collective action.

AWEF believes lasting change is stronger when communities, public services, professionals, researchers, funders and decision-makers work together. Our role is often to connect women’s lived experience with the organisations and systems that can respond, learn and improve.

Why partnership matters

Connected challenges need connected responses.

The challenges women face rarely fit neatly within one service.

  • Housingcan affect health.
  • Employment difficultiescan affect family stability.
  • Language barrierscan affect access to healthcare.
  • Discriminationcan affect confidence and opportunity.

Effective responses therefore require collaboration across sectors.

Who we work with

Partnership across sectors.

Communities, public services, professionals, researchers, funders and decision-makers: the people and organisations that can respond, learn and improve.

  1. Community and voluntary organisations
  2. Local authorities and public bodies

  4. Universities, researchers and students
  5. Legal practitioners and specialist advice organisations
  6. Employers, businesses and professional networks
  7. Equality, rights and social-justice organisations
  8. Funders, trusts and foundations
  9. Schools, colleges, training providers and community educators
  10. Other organisations working with refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, women and families

From individual support to systemic change

Frontline knowledge can reveal patterns.

AWEF’s community work can reveal patterns that are difficult to see from within a single institution.

When appropriate, we bring recurring experiences together, protect confidentiality, explore what they may tell us and work with partners to identify practical improvements.

AWEF is not a regulated legal-advice provider. Where a matter needs regulated legal or specialist professional advice, we signpost to qualified professionals.

AWEF is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. If you cannot speak, press 55 when prompted.

How lived experience becomes change

  1. Listen
  2. Learn
  3. Evidence
  4. Collaborate
  5. Influence
  6. Improve

Create meaningful opportunities with women.

We welcome relationships with organisations that share our commitment to dignity, equality, inclusion, lived-experience leadership and practical change.

We are particularly interested in partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for African women to shape research, services, policy, employment, education and community life.
